Privacy policy

Plain language, no boilerplate borrowed from anyone else. The short version: your audio is processed inside your browser and is never sent to us.

Last updated August 2026

This policy has not yet been reviewed by a qualified lawyer in every jurisdiction where the site is available. It describes the site’s actual technical behaviour accurately; the operator will obtain legal review before any advertising is enabled.

Who is responsible

The operator of aimusicdetector.co is the data controller for this website. Contact: privacy@aimusicdetector.co. Full contact routes are on the contact page.

Your audio files

Audio you select is decoded and analysed by your own browser using the Web Audio API. The file is not uploaded, not transmitted to us, not stored on any server and not shared with any third party. When you close or reload the tab, the decoded audio is discarded from memory.

Because we never receive your audio, we cannot use it for model training, cannot sell it, cannot expose it to advertisers and cannot produce it in response to any request. This is a property of the architecture, not a promise about our intentions.

If a future version introduces optional server-side analysis, it will be clearly labelled, opt-in, and this policy will be updated before that feature ships.

Information we do process

  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request data — IP address, user agent, requested path, timestamp — for security and reliability. These logs are retained for a short operational period and are not used to build profiles.
  • Local storage. Your light/dark theme choice is stored in your browser only. It never reaches us.
  • Analytics. If privacy-configured analytics are enabled, they record aggregate page views and anonymous tool events (for example that an analysis started or finished). They never receive file names, file contents, file paths or result data linked to an identity.
  • Email. If you write to us, we hold your message and address for as long as needed to handle the enquiry.

Legal basis

Where the GDPR applies: legitimate interests for security logging and site operation; your consent for any advertising or non-essential analytics storage; and contract or legitimate interests for handling correspondence you initiate.

Advertising and cookies

No advertising is currently served. If display advertising is introduced, a certified consent-management interface will appear first in regions where consent is required, no advertising storage will be set before you choose, and refusing will remain as easy as accepting. Details are in the cookie policy.

Subprocessors and international transfers

The site is served by a hosting and CDN provider that may operate servers outside your country; standard contractual safeguards apply where required. Because audio never leaves your device, no audio is subject to any international transfer.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS only. Keeping analysis local is itself the main security control: data that is never collected cannot be breached.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, plus the right to complain to your supervisory authority. Write to privacy@aimusicdetector.co and we will respond within one month. Note that we usually hold nothing about you beyond short-lived server logs.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date above, and any change that affects how audio is handled will be announced on the site before it takes effect.
