What the Audio Analyzer measures

The Audio Analyzer gives you a single technical read-out of any track: how loud it is, how dynamic it is, what key and tempo it sits at, how wide the stereo image is and how its energy is distributed across the frequency spectrum. It is the tool to reach for when you have a file and want to know what it actually is before you master it, release it, sync it or compare it against a reference.

Each measurement is computed from the decoded waveform in your browser, not from metadata written by whatever exported the file. That matters, because ID3 tags and DAW-written BPM fields are frequently wrong, copied from a template, or left over from an earlier version of the arrangement.

  • Loudness: integrated LUFS, loudness range, sample peak and estimated true peak
  • Rhythm: BPM with confidence and alternate half/double-time candidates
  • Harmony: key, scale, Camelot code and the underlying chromagram
  • Stereo: inter-channel correlation, width and mono compatibility
  • Spectrum: brightness centroid, practical high-frequency ceiling and per-band energy
  • File: duration, sample rate, channel count, container bitrate and bit depth where readable

How to read the results

Integrated loudness is the number streaming platforms use to line tracks up against each other. Most services normalise to somewhere between -14 and -16 LUFS, so a master sitting well above that will simply be turned down on playback, losing the loudness you fought for while keeping the dynamic damage you did to get there.

Loudness range tells you how much the loudness moves over the length of the track. A value under about 3 LU usually means heavy limiting and a flat arrangement, while values above 12 LU are common in classical and film music and can feel uneven on a phone speaker.

Inter-channel correlation near 1 means the mix is close to mono; near 0 means a wide stereo image; negative values warn of phase problems that will partially cancel when the track is folded to mono, which still happens on club systems, smart speakers and many phone speakers.

The spectral ceiling is the frequency below which almost all of the energy lives. Lossy encoding at low bitrates leaves a hard shelf, often somewhere between 15 and 16 kHz, and a ceiling far below the theoretical limit for the sample rate is a strong hint that you are analysing a transcode rather than a master.

Where this fits in a real workflow

Producers use it as a pre-release check: confirm the loudness target, confirm the true peak stays under the ceiling, confirm the mix does not collapse in mono. DJs use it to confirm key and tempo before building a set. Sync and library clients use it to verify that the file they were sent is a genuine high-resolution master and not an upsampled MP3.

If a measurement looks wrong, trust your ears first and the number second. Every estimate here is a measurement of a signal, not a statement about musical intent, and the confidence values exist precisely so you can tell the strong readings from the weak ones.
